Health lesson 1 - What have you been successful in this past year, 2017?

In health we had to explain what is success, here is my blog based on it.

In 2017, i have been successful in a lot of things. First of all, i have achieved being in the highest class (the one i am in now) i have achieved a spot in hosting Japanese exchange students which only a handful of people was chosen to host. I gained a spot in our school gala managing team which 5 people from the school were chosen. I achieved a sports award for soccer that 3 of my team members received.
Everything that has happened this year i am incredibly grateful for, even though these may be small achievements they are still very successful for my age.

Social studies - Qualities of an entrepreneur.

-In social studies we have been given homework which was to write qualities that relates to us and support it based on our lives -

My qualities
  • Disciple
  • Confidence
  • Good attitude
  • Determination

I personally have good qualities that I think would help me get certain jobs. I definitely have confidence within myself and i am very disciplined as i grew up in a family, who my dad (an ex US marine)  we were raised to give respect and to have confidence thanks to my dad, I carry this out in my school and social life.
Some other qualities that I have would be determination, and a good attitude, to back up those qualities, in my education journey you will see I have finished my work, even if I don't finish it at the deadline I will still push to finish.

For the attitude, you can look at my social/school life, I do have a good attitude towards my friends and strangers and also I have good intentions.
This was all because I witnessed these qualities from my elders I carried all these into the present and I believe it will help me get a good response from a job interview, since these are some of the main qualities.

My new option

In our school we got to choose two options, my options were business and art. i am currently attending art now. At the start of the class we were given the task to draw a board on paper and add things that are meaningful to yourself, i have added, my country flag (Samoa) a self portrait of myself, traditional carvings from my said country, a Germany flag (because i am German) and many patterns that come from my culture, i have added patterns from my Maori side, Niuean side, and most importantly my Samoan side, the reason why these are all meaningful to me is because they are all a part of me. When we have drawn these special things on paper, we will then transfer them onto a blackboard using white pencil, the white pencil will represent the negatives, which we will carve out, and the black will represent the positive, you dont carve it out, i am halfway done with my carving so far, i may upload a photo of my finished product soon.

Today is the first day back at school for Term 3. We are more than half way in the year and i have now started a new topic, which is 'Significant places'

However, i still need to blog about my presentation on the Human rights assessment, so here it is.

Last term. Term 2, we had to choose a country and research about their human rights and how they have violated this, my team chose Syria as our country to research. We found out some shocking facts like...

1. The reason they are at war is because they dislike the president (Bashar al-assad) and want the resignation from him as they complained high unemployment, widespread corruption, lack of political freedom, and state repression.
2. 80% of the Syrian population is homeless.

We had to make a presentation about this topic and present it
here are just some of my slides about this topic

Reflection on this topic.
Parents point of view - (This is a point of view from a woman, who fled her country (Syria) on the 2nd war anniversary , with her husband and three kids, two of them are disabled) she says quote "Honestly, we couldn't continue living there (Syria) " Even though, she does admit, Syria was better than in Jordan, which is where she is located at the moment, she says that when in Syria, both her and her husband both had jobs, a car and a house, they fled with nothing. She also quotes that "Because I have two kids that are disabled I need to go to the hospital to check them, however the drive is long, you wont know what will happen on the way" I believe that she of course was living in fear for her children and for her husband as well as herself, even though she had everything in Syria, she couldn't risk it
My thoughts on this - I'm very saddened by this topic, to think that thousands of people are suffering from poverty & war makes me feel bad for all the times I was being ungrateful for the minor things.
In my opinion, I think the public should stop bombing overall because of the children and all the innocent people. We can also help with this problem, it may not stop it entirely but it will have an effect on the problem, we could also join organisations that are helping with this problem and donate clothes and bare necessities needed

SOS - The dark side of chocolate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXWFXeIZY9g  (please watch the video beforehand)

When i first watched this video i was disgusted, of course i understand that some parents dont want to make their children work but they have to because of payment, i feel bad that some people take education for granted when these kids need it more than us.

Also to help these kids go for fair trade chocolate because the profit will go and help the communities in Ghana and eventually get these kids out of the farms and into school, so they will get the education they need and get a better future

Human rights - SOS

In social studies we are learning about human rights, we have been looking at 11 countries who have the worst human rights in the world

My partner Deandra and i have chosen the country Myanmar (Burma) to work on this assessment

The reason we chose this country is because we dont really know about its rights, and we think it would be a fun challenge to research and find out more about this country that to do a country we already know about
